On May 8, 2013, the Department of Labor (DOL) issued guidance for employers regarding the requirement to notify employees of coverage options available through Exchanges, also called Health Insurance Marketplaces. (Technical Release http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/newsroom/tr13-02.html).

There are two notice issues for employers to consider. 1) You must provide notices if you provide health insurance to your employees.  2) If you don’t provide health insurance you still must provide notices to employees about options available to them. Employers must provide notice to current employees by Oct. 1, 2013.
