More and more, I am noticing that this generation of twenty-somethings to thirty-somethings, particularly women, are taking daily steps to live a greener, more local, organic, healthy, nurture-this-earth kind of lifestyle. We travel a little bit farther in our home towns to hit the Saturday morning farmers market, we forgo the cab (for those of us who do not in fact own cars…or driver’s licenses) for the bus, a bike, or a sprightly walk on a lovely fall day, and we spend extra money, money we don’t necessarily have to spend, buying the organic (preferably local) apples at the grocery store and posh fair trade coffee beverages (non-fat, no foam). We take yoga classes, learn to meditate, go on nature walks and learn to spend quality time with ourselves and with the environment. But why?

Of course there are the obvious reasons. We want to take care of our planet…
